DIRECT AND INDIRECT SPECCH

Direct speech ialah kalimat yang dibicarakan secara langsung oleh pembicara dan jika ditulis akan ditulis menggunakan kata kutip di kalimat tersebut, sedangkan Indirect speech ialah kalimat yang kita laporkan kepada orang lain(retell) secara tidak langsung dan tanpa diberi koma.

Example:

• Toni asks,"what are you doing?" (Direct speech)
  Toni asked what I was doing (Indirect speech)
• Clara says,"I think Rama is sick" (Direct speech)
  Clara said that she thought Rama was sick (Indirect speech)

 Direct and Indirect ada 4 macam:

1. Statement :  Toni says,"Clara is pretty" → Toni said that Clara was pretty
2. Yes/No question : she asks,"Are you happy?" → She asked me if/whether I was happy
3. W.H question : Toni asks,"Where is your campus?" → Toni asked where my campus
4. Command (+) : Clara says, "Open my book please!" → Clara said to open her book
                        (-) : Lecturer says,"Don't come late!" → Lecturer said not to come late
